In honor of Fan Appreciation Night, the Penguins took part in a celebration to show how appreciative they are of their fans. The only problem was that it came at the worst time: minutes after losing a game that would knock them out of playoff contention.
You could tell that the fans, as well as players, weren't exactly in the mood to be celebrating anything.
In a do-or-die situation, the Pens needed to capture the win against the Chicago Blackhawks, as well as a win against the Columbus Blue Jackets in order to secure a playoff spot. The Penguins failed to win both games.
Perhaps it's time to reconsider holding Fan Appreciation Night on the same night as the last home game.
The Penguins will look to rebuild their team in the off-season, following the potential firing of GM Ron Hextall.
