Having your son announce your name for the starting lineup of your 1000th game isn't something every hockey player gets the experience. But, for Kris Letang, it was the icing on the cake to his 1000th NHL game celebration.
"'It was pretty emotional having my son on the ice with me,'" Letang stated. "'That kind of made it perfect.'"
The 10 year old isn't shy to being involved with the team. He stole the show as he joined his dad at the All Star Skills Competition in 2020.
"'I would wear 58 if my dad's not playing,' he said. 'If Crosby stops playing I'll be the number of Crosby.'"
Warmups Celebration
The Penguins are used to celebrating a player's 1000th game, as captain Sidney Crosby and alternate captain Evgeni Malkin celebrated theirs within the past two years. When it comes to a player's 1000th game, one of the many ways they like to celebrate is having the entire team come out during warmups wearing said player's jersey.
The Penguins did just that to honor Letang, as the whole team took to the ice during warmups wearing none other than a Kris Letang jersey.
