Spencer Carbery served as an assistant coach under Sheldon Keefe from 2021-2023. Now, the Capitals Head Coach shared how he feels about Keefe.

Carbery Reveals His Thoughts About Keefe Ahead of Match

Ahead of the Leafs Capitals game tonight, former Leaf assistant Spencer Carbery revealed his thoughts about Sheldon Keefe. Carbery credits Keefe with having some unique insights into bench management and says he has changed much of his game due to what he has picked up from the Leafs Head Coach.

"A lot of the ways he sees the game, I've learned a ton. Bench management. There are some unique things that he does a little bit differently than some other coaches and (I) picked some of those up," Carbery said of Keefe. I could think about 100 different things that I've incorporated into my coaching style that I learned from him"

Keefe Was Reluctant to Hire Carbery

Keefe also revealed that he was a bit hesitant to reach out to Carbery for the Assistant Coach position, saying that he respected Carbery so much as a head coach he was worried about asking him to be an assistant.

"I was a little reluctant to ask him if he would be an assistant because of how much I respected him as a head coach,"

With the two knowing so much about each other, it will be interesting to see if this impacts how they handle their matchups during tonight's game.
