Former TSN Reporter Reveals When Keefe's Contract Will Get Signed

Former TSN reporter, Mike DiStefano has revealed when he believes Sheldon Keefe will have his next contract signed.

Major Keefe Update

On the Locked on Leafs podcast, former TSN reporter Mike DiStefano provided Leafs fans with a major update regarding the Sheldon Keefe contract situation.

DiStefano revealed how he believed the contract would be signed/announced during training camp this year.

"I would assume that it does get done before camp, um, because if you show up to camp without a deal, like, that might be something. Maybe the deal is done, and it's been done for a bit, but they're just not announcing anything until you know they get back to the training camp site. They don't have to bring the media in to discuss it. And then, I forget, um, you know, on a Zoom call, he can enjoy his summer.

But yeah, bro, come back, hey, welcome to day one of camp. By the way, a two-year extension is signed for Sheldon Keefe. Like, potentially, that could be the case."

Could This Be The Case?

This has a lot of plausibility to it. The Leafs made it clear that they were sticking by Keefe after firing Kyle Dubas and keeping Keefe meaning they believe he is their guy. With Keefe having such a strong relationship with the Leafs' top players, it would make sense to keep a guy like that around.

In the past, other teams have held off till the start of training camps to announce the signings of coaches and front office members as they want to enjoy their vacation.

However, if a contract extension is not announced come the 2nd week of training camp, we should expect nothing in place and Keefe to play out the final year of his contract to prove himself worthy of the next one.
