Over the last several days the Toronto Maple Leafs have been decimated by flu going through the team.
Many players, including Ilya Samsonov, William Lagesson, Matthew Knies, and Auston Matthews, have caught the flu or sickness. This left Auston Matthews out of the lineup and unable to play.
Another player who has had this flu longer and reportedly worse than any other player is one of the team's top remaining defensemen TJ Brodie.
During his press conference after the morning skate today, Sheldon Keefe gave an update on the status of players who have been sick. TJ Brodie is progressing slower than others in his recovery.
According to Keefe Brodie had just eaten his first meal of the day around lunchtime. Before this, he had been unable to eat anything while sick. This means Brodie has made progress but is still a lot of progress away from playing.
Simon Benoit has been slotted into Brodie's position for the time being. As more updates become available on Brodie's condition and recovery we will provide them to you.
