Since joining the Maple Leafs for their end of the season run, Matthew Knies has meshed well with the group. So well in fact, that he's taken up residence with a core member of the Maple Leafs roster.
Tavares Opens Up His Home to Knies
With the playoffs just around the corner, the Maple Leafs have done everything in their power to stay healthy ahead of their massive series against Tampa Bay. That effort goes beyond just physical health as well, as it appears Captain John Tavares has the mental well being of his players in mind too.
Tavares offered Knies a place to stay in his family's basement, that way the rookie can avoid staying in a hotel room. Not only does this allow Knies to remain in a home like environment, but probably saves the organization some money in hotel expenses.
Knies had nothing but good things to say about the hospitality he's recieved:
«I'm happy he opened up and welcomed me. It's made me feel a lot more comfortable.»
While it appears as though Knies will be a scratch for the Leafs first playoff game, the gesture from Tavares certainly makes Toronto a place he'll want to stay.
