Since joining the Maple Leafs for their end of the season run, Matthew Knies has meshed well with the group. So well in fact, that he's taken up residence with a core member of the Maple Leafs roster.
With the playoffs just around the corner, the Maple Leafs have done everything in their power to stay healthy ahead of their massive series against Tampa Bay. That effort goes beyond just physical health as well, as it appears Captain John Tavares has the mental well being of his players in mind too.
Tavares offered Knies a place to stay in his family's basement, that way the rookie can avoid staying in a hotel room. Not only does this allow Knies to remain in a home like environment, but probably saves the organization some money in hotel expenses.
