Tragic news from the USPHL as youngster Braydin Lewis has passed away at the age of 19 following a fight with Glioblastoma, a common and deadly form of brain cancer.

Lewis, who was a member of the USPHL's Metro Jets, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor last year. Lewis had entered hospice care days before his passing. Earlier in the year, Lewis had dropped the ceremonial puck at a game supporting cancer awareness.

The Metro Jets confirmed the passing of Braydin Lewis on Twitter earlier today, sending their condolences in a club statement.

It had appeared Lewis was recovering follow a removal of the tumor last year, with Lewis returning to the Jets. Lewis had worsened later, as the tumor appeared to have re-emerged.

The ECHL Fort Wayne Komets and USPHL Fort Wayne Spacemen held a charity match to support Braydin and his family last year to raise money for his battle.

Despite his diagnosis, Lewis, a defenseman, managed to suit up for 6 games with the Jets this season, scoring 3 goals and 4 points. He had been a member of the Jets since 2020.
