Ryan O'Reilly Jokes About His Time as a Member of the Minnesota Wild
Ryan O'Reilly has played games for four different NHL teams in his career. He has been on the payroll of five, however. He has now shared how it felt to be a member of the Minnesota Wild.
When O'Reilly was traded from the St. Louis Blues to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the deal was brokered by the Minnesota Wild, who retained 25% of O'Reilly's salary. This means, for about 30 minutes, while the trade was being finalized with the league, O'Reilly was a member of the Minnesota Wild.
He of course has never played a game for the Wild, but he was officially a member of their team for this short time.
O'Reilly Jokes About His Time 'in' Minnesota
O'Reilly met with Joe Smith of The Athletic to share his time as a member of the Wild.
Some could call him the one that got away for the Wild, who won't be in the playoff picture this season, but they were able to get a fourth-round pick for his time there so it was a win!
