As you know, things haven't turned out well for the Leafs' goalie Ilya Samsonov. We don't have to keep saying it, what we must do now is trying to find solutions to his problems.
Last night's embarassing lost proved it. He allowed six goals for the second time in three games, putting the count at 21 goals in the last four games.
Following the game, Sportsnet's analysts Nick Kypreos, David Amber, Justin Bourne and Elliotte Friedman talked about what the Leafs could do to solve their goalie problems.
According to Nick Kypreos, the Leafs must sent Samsonov to the AHL, just like the Oilers did with Jack Campbell.
He also stated that the Leafs should bring up Dennis Hildeby from the Marlies. He'd get his first taste of NHL hockey following impressive performances in the AHL.
This solution isn't guaranteed to work and it has risks, but it's better than doing nothing. By doing so, the Leafs would give him the opportunity to bounce back.
The Leafs can't afford to lose games because of him. Many teams are pushing them in the standings, and should they lose a playoff spot because of Samsonov, the fans would completely stop trusting Brad Treliving and Brendan Shanahan.
As seen on Maple Leafs Daily - NHL Analyst believes he has the solution to the Leafs' goaltending problem
