William Nylander's contract in Toronto is about to come to an end and the two sides have not been working well together to get an extension done. Nylander is reportedly asking for close to $10 million per season in his next deal and the Leafs most definitely cannot afford to hand that to him.
With this, the idea of Nylander possibly being moved has risen as a genuine possibility. As mock trades and rumors come in, one trade idea has stood out the most, and it involves sending the forward to the Seattle Kraken.
In this suggested deal, we see both Nylander and T.J. Brodie sent to Seattle in exchange for top prospect and former fourth overall draft pick Shane Wright. With Wright not having the hottest start to his NHL career after spending some time in the AHL last season, a change of scenery may be what the kid needs. The deal also sends veteran defenseman Adam Larsson and a first round pick to the Leafs.
Looking at this created offer, it is indeed a wonder if either side would pull the trigger or if this would be talked about at all. It's also worth making a note if Nylander or Wright get moved this offseason.
