Ryan O'Reilly left the game two nights ago with what appeared to be a hand injury.

It was then leaked that he was dealing with what could be a broken finger.

From there, it appears that this might be a long-term injury.

Today, the Maple Leafs called up Pontus Holmberg and Alex Steeves.

Maple Leafs Make Two Call-Ups

Holmberg looked like a surefire member of the leafs' playoff group, but lost his spot to Ryan O'Reilly.

Alex Steeves provides a lot of energy to the bottom-six, but doesn't provide the two-way game of Noel Acciari and Sam Lafferty.

It's safe to say that the Leafs would rather have their big deadline acquisition in the lineup, but the aren't screwed by any means.

Following the massive hit from Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers, Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares was seen sporting a grey extras jersey during practice.

This suggests that Tavares may have sustained some injuries from the hit, and his status for upcoming games may be uncertain. Despite being a tough player, Tavares' physical condition is now a concern for his team and fans alike.
