The Morgan Rielly incident has taken over the NHL world over the last week. A debate has sparked like wildfire and caused fans, players, coaches, and executives to give their input on who was in the wrong. Today this trend continued with former Maple Leaf Luke Schenn.
Schenn Breaks His Silence And Weights In On Rielly Incident
During a new interview, former Toronto Maple Leaf and current Nashville Predator Luke Schenn spoke about the Morgan Rielly incident. He seems to be on the side of Rielly saying the cross-check was accidental and the intent behind the response was valid.
«I thought [the empty-netter] was ridiculous, honestly. I'm on Rielly's side on this one. Obviously, it was an accident to cross-check him in the face... Maybe he needs some perspective there not to do that.»

Schenn also says that Rielly needs to be aware of where his stick is when making a stand like that. It sounds as though Schenn understands the nuance of both sides of the argument but is in favor of Rielly standing up for his team.
Now Morgan Rielly will have to wait and see if the NHL's appeal process agrees and lowers his suspension down from five games. As that information becomes available we will bring it to you.
