Elliotte Friedman confirms blockbuster off-season trade by the Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered yet another frustrating loss during their playoff series against the Boston Bruins. The loss puts them on the brink of elimination and with a lot of conflict in the locker room. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman believes that a series loss could spell the end of an era in Toronto.
A couple of nights ago everything went wrong for the Toronto Maple Leafs. They went down big time to the Boston Bruins and never recovered. Part of the reason they could not fight their way back was due to in fighting between their stars.
William Nylander, presumably to a teammate: «Stop f****** crying brothis isn't fucking junior hockey.» #LeafsForever This fighting between the three players has led to questions regarding the future of the core four in Toronto. Today on Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts Podcast he talked about the situation. According to Friedman the group is on the ropes and could be split if they fail to come back in this series.
Elliotte Friedman on 32T: "This is the end for this group (core 4) if they don't pull off a big comeback"
#LeafsForever
While he's unsure exactly what a split would look like he feels that the group has already been given one vote of confidence last offseason from the front office and that is not likely to happen again. Unless the Maple Leafs pull off a miracle we could be seeing the end of an era in Toronto for the Maple Leafs.
As game 5 approaches all eyes will be on the core four to see if they can continue to keep their season and opportunity together alive.
