The Maple Leafs haven't made many changes to their roster since the season started. Apart from William Nylander's contract extension and a few recalls from the AHL, Brad Treliving hasn't done much this season.
In the latest episode of his podcast, '32 Thoughts', renowned insider Elliotte Friedman stated that things haven't changed regarding Treliving's plans before the deadline: he aims to strengthen the Leafs' blue line.
Even before the season began, it was evident that Treliving wanted to bolster his team by adding defensive talent to the roster. With the Zadorov trade that took place a few months ago, it seemed likely that the GM would finalize a deal sooner rather than later, to avoid losing another target to a competitor.
As we reported earlier today, one of the top candidates to join Toronto could be Sean Walker.
Currently with the Flyers, he would be an excellent addition to Sheldon Keefe's lineup.
However, acquiring him won't come cheap. It is expected that the Flyers would ask for at least a first-round pick in return. The Leafs are already somewhat limited in terms of draft picks, but they might decide to trade their 2024 first-round pick if it means acquiring a player who could play a significant role in the team's playoff success.
