Kyle Dubas Slips Up and Confirms Massive Leafs Conspiracy
Kyle Dubas recently acquired Erik Karlsson and he has slipped up revealing something major.
Dubas Acquires Karlsson
Erik Karlsson hitting the trade block was massive news with many teams vying for the 100-point defenseman's services. It was rumored that the Maple Leafs were in on Karlsson as well but at the end of the day, Kyle Dubas got his hands on the all-star.
A recent quote from Dubas has circulated around causing alarm among many.
The Conspiracy
With Dubas' negotiations for Karlsson dating back to when he was the GM of the Maple Leafs, it has led fans to wonder if he had a deal in place to bring Karlsson north but it was rejected by his higher-ups, Brendan Shanahan and MLSE.
Part of what Dubas was asking for from Shanahan and MLSE in his negotiations for his new contract was more control.
With Pittsburgh, he gets all of the control he needs with him dueling as the President of Hockey Operations and their GM.
Could Kyle Dubas have had a deal in place to acquire Karlsson but had it rejected by his higher-ups? While we cannot say anything for certain, it seems that Dubas' vision for the Maple Leafs differed from Shanahan's.
