Leafs Sign NCAA Prospect With Higher Production Than Matthew Knies!
NCAA Free Agents are an easy way to get something for nothing. While many don't turn out, the guy the Maple Leafs signed today looks pretty good.
Leafs Sign Cruikshank
Grant Cruikshank, a 24-year-old senior at St. Cloud State, hit his stride closer to the end of his NCAA career.
With 38 points in 41 games this year, Cruikshank defined himself as a professional option, and the Maple Leafs were able to snatch him up on a one-year AHL deal.
Cruikshank's 23 goals were more than top Leafs prospect Matthew Knies in the same league! While Knies is four years his junior, and a much better prospect, it gives a great idea of who Cruikshank could be for the Leafs organization.
Cruikshank equally brings leadership pedigree, as he spent two seasons as captain of Colorado College.
This no-risk signing by the Leafs could pay off in spades. Well done Kyle Dubas!
