The Toronto Maple Leafs have an opportunity to bring Cole Perfetti to Ontario, his home province.

The Maple Leafs have yet to sign forward Nick Robertson, and are unlikely to as the winger requested to be traded earlier in the summer.

Similarly, the Winnipeg Jets have yet to sign Cole Perfetti, a native of Whitby, Ontario. With this in mind, it would a good idea for Brad Treliving to contact the Jets about Perfetti's availability on the trade market.

Cole Perfetti, 22, has struggled to find consistent minutes in Winnipeg, posting 38 points in 71 games last season, while being scratched multiple times in the NHL playoffs. The former 10th overall pick may need a change of scenery to get his young career on track.

Nick Robertson, 22, has bounced up and down between the AHL and NHL in his career, playing a career high 56 NHL last season, recording 27 points. He found himself out of the lineup many times during the season, leading to his desire to leave the Leafs and find a new organization.

The Maple Leafs could give up a 1st round pick and a mid round pick for a couple years down the road, as well as Robertson, while picking up Perfetti, and a mid round pick for 2025, as the are severely short on picks in the 2025 NHL draft.

While Cole Perfetti's trade availability is currently unknown, it would be prudent for Treliving to check in on the young forward, just in case.
