The current edition of the Toronto Maple Leafs is probably the best one we've seen in a long time.
While we often focus on what's happening now, let's not forget that the future is bright in Toronto.
One of the reasons is Artur Akhtyamov, the Leafs' goalie prospect who is currently playing in the KHL.
The 21-year-old goalie was seen as a long-term project by many specialists, but since the start of the KHL season, he has taken the League by storm.
The Leafs' fourth-round pick in 2020 has been on fire since he was recalled by Kazan, his KHL team.
He boasts a 6-3 record, with a .937 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against average.
Earlier today, he played exceptionally well, stopping 29 of the 31 shots he faced.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' depth in the goaltender position has been a concern for years. But now, with Woll preparing for the NHL, Akhtyamov dominating in the KHL, and the addition of Vyacheslav Peksa, Dennis Hilldeby, and Keith Petruzzelli, the future looks promising for the Leafs' goaltending.
