Coming off a very rough loss to the Carolina Hurricanes where they were dominated pretty much the whole game, Toronto needs to pick things up again versus the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
There is a lot of work needed in order to get things back on track, and the schedule doesn't get any easier. Vancouver is hungry and just on the cusp of a playoff spot so they will be fighting with every chance they get, and Toronto's big guns have to bring the firepower and not go minus-6.
But it could have been their goaltender Joseph Woll needing a bit of a breather after taking the majority of the load with Anthony Stolarz injured, so ahead of Saturday's game, Craig Berube made his choice for goalie.
The man nicknamed 'Hildebeast' gets the start for the Maple Leafs against the Canucks, and has the chance to make a statement.
He needs to make one too, as he's been alright so far but his potential leaves fans with more expectations.
He made his NHL debut earlier this year and secured a victory, but struggled in his second time around and found himself demoted.
He was bandied back and forth along with Matt Murray while Toronto navigated their goalie situation.
This season Hildeby has a 3-1-0 record, but his underlying stats leave a bit to be desired as he has a 3.23 GAA and .892 SV%. If he can build on those stats, Toronto may have a three-headed demon in net going into a very crucial playoff push.
If Toronto can't get their act together against Vancouver, don't expect head coach Craig Berube to make some changes mid-game, and if Hildeby struggles then he should have a very short leash given that the team needs to maximize each opportunity to win.
Toronto takes on the Canucks at home at Scotiabank Arena; the game is scheduled to start at 7pm, even if the Canucks were initially delayed at the beginning of the day.
