In the last weeks, many players that were of interest to the Toronto Maple Leafs have been dealt with: Chris Tanev, Elias Lindholm, and Sean Monahan.

This could push the Leafs' general manager, Brad Treliving, to make a move soon. With the team possibly looking to improve for the playoffs, and with many possible targets already traded, the time for Treliving to act is now.
A new development suggests that something big could go down in Toronto soon.
As David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period reported on X, 12 teams sent scouts to the last Leafs' game: the Coyotes, Kings, Senators, Sharks, Wild, Canucks, Jets, Blues, Hurricanes, Canadiens, Penguins, and Panthers.
"12 teams with reps on the list for tonight's Knights/Leafs game here in Toronto: AZ, LA, SJ, OTT, MIN, VAN, WPG, STL, CAR, MTL, PIT, FLA"

It has already been brought up by a few insiders and analysts that the Leafs are looking to bring in a top defenseman. Interesting candidates from the teams that sent scouts emerged.
Let's start with the Canadiens. They have interesting players in their ranks, and the one that could fit in Toronto is the veteran defenseman David Savard.
Savard, renowned for his leadership and great defensive skills, would bring a lot to the Leafs. He's one of the best in the League at blocking shots, and his personality stands out from the rest of the pack.
However, the Canadiens really like what Savard brings to the development of their young players. Kent Hughes, Montreal's GM, revealed recently that he wasn't interested in parting ways with him. If Treliving and the Leafs want him, they'll need to pay a hefty price.
The second target is the Sharks' Mario Ferraro. The 25-year-old is a great two-way defenseman that brings a lot of stability to a blue line. Even if he's a lefty, he's been linked to the Leafs as a possibly interesting addition to their defensive unit.
Lastly, Matt Roy from the Kings has also been linked to the Leafs. Like Ferraro, he's a two-way defenseman and a solid top-four player. The Kings, who are in the first Wild Card spot for the playoffs, won't deal him unless the offer is extremely enticing.
