Max Domi Already Has A Surprising Close Friend on The Leafs' Roster

It didn't take long for Max Domi to find a new home in free agency this summer, and now things are looking better than ever for the young forward.
Pre-existing Chemistry With New Team
Domi has just revealed that he has previous connections and friendships with Maple Leafs superstars and franchise cornerstones Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
Since signing with the Leafs, he already has the feeling of being home and an even better mindset now that he will be playing with these familiar faces.
Domi made an appearance on TSN 1050's Overdrive and retold the story of how he met and skated around with a young and still developing Matthews.
"Auston actually was still skating around in Arizona, like he wasn't even drafted yet when I was playing for the Yotes. So the first time I actually met him we were doing a fitting way back when. I want to say it was Bauer or Warrior or something. We were just trying some sticks out. Like he was just a young kid. He would come skate out with the boys and he was the best player when he was like 15 or 16 years old or however old he would have been then. He was also one of the biggest guys out there still too. Obviously We've crossed paths over the years, got the same agent now. He's an unbelievable kid. Obviously his talent in hockey speaks for itself and I'm just looking forward to spending some more time with him."
Previous Championship Winning Experience With New Teammate
Domi is lucky to say that he got to hang around with a teenage Matthews before he became a Maple Leafs superstar, but that is not the only connection he has.
Domi and Mitch Marner were teammates on the Memorial Cup winning London Knights team that showed dominance, and now the two are looking to compete for another title win together. He also has experience with Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty as teammates on the Chicago Blackhawks just recently.
"Guys like Mitch, John Tavares, Morgan Rielly is a guy I go way back with as well and I played with McCabe and Lafferty as well in Chicago. It's a lot of familiar faces and I'm really excited to see them all and I'm glad to be on the right side of things. " With all these familiarities for Domi before even playing a game as a member of the Leafs, we are only bound to see a great chemistry and bond both on and off the ice, which will most certainly improve the team overall.
