Max Domi's possible contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs got leaked by an insider.

This year, Domi showed that the Leafs could use him in the long run. With 45 points in 78 games, he proved that he can be an important part of the team's bottom-six, and even the top-six from time to time, as he currently plays on the top line with Auston Matthews and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Securing him long-term could be an interesting move for Brad Treliving. Domi fits well in Toronto, and he has what it takes to perform in that market.

Leafs' reporter James Mirtle believes that for his next deal, Domi should look for term over money, if he wants to remain in Toronto. Here's his full statement:

"For a guy that's bounced around a lot, I'm almost certain what he's looking for is term," said Mirtle. "I don't think it's out of the question (staying in Toronto), I just think he's going to have to take less money to stay here. If I'm him, you're probably looking at four-by-four or something like that. I could see a world where something comes together, but it would have to be driven by him really wanting to be here and not just going for the most term and dollars he can get."

A four-year deal, at four million a year, seems a lot for Domi. Treliving likely won't be ready to pay that much for him, unless he performs amazingly in the playoffs.
