The 29-year-old Domi is projected to get a four-year deal north of $4.2 million per season. This is not a terrible contract that would take Domi until he is 33.
Assuming Domi wants to sign a long-term contract, this is relatively in that range.
Domi could sign another two or three-year contract after a four-year contract and cash in big time should he need to. Domi could even take the Corey Perry route and become a depth-forward pest, a role he naturally inherited from his father, Tie Domi.
While it has been reported that Domi wants to stay as a Toronto Maple Leafs, business is business and Domi understands business.
Assuming Brad Treliving is keen on re-signing the versatile forward, I wouldn't expect a significant pay raise for Domi.
In the long term, Domi should fit into the plans of the Maple Leafs, especially if he wants to get this team to beat the dreaded playoff dragons they face.
The expectations are that Max Domi will remain a Toronto Maple Leaf, but money talks, and July 1st is quickly approaching. The clock is ticking to keep Max Domi around in Toronto for the foreseeable future.
