Tavares shares his thoughts on facing the Bruins in the first round
The Toronto Maple Leafs' captain John Tavares shared his thoughts on facing the Boston Bruins in the first round of the upcoming playoffs.
It was confirmed last night that the Leafs will face the Bruins in the first round, with game one set to go down next Saturday.
The captain John Tavares shared his opinion on facing the Bruins, another original six team aspiring to the Stanley Cup.
"🗣️ John Tavares on the reality of playing the Bruins:
«It'll be a real challenge but real special to play in that. An Original Six (team) has got a lot of history to it. Great opportunity for us so we know it'll be a real test and we have to be prepared.» "
The Leafs lost all of their six clashes against the Bruins this season. If Toronto want to reach the second round once again this year, they'll need to be better.
"I agree that the Bruins will be a challenge. Balanced, structured team and well coached.
Leafs do lack depth and balance, as you say, especially on D and Goaltending has been a bit of a crapshoot.
I think the Leafs can win, but, they would have to be at their very best."
In their history, both teams faced each other 16 times in the playoffs. The last time was in 2019, and the Bruins won in seven games before losing in the Finals against the Blues.
