No goals scored after 60 minutes of playing time, the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Minnesota Wild needed an overtime period to settle the debate in this first game of the spring ball. It took a deflected shot after an error in defensive territory to secure the victory for the Wild.

Joel Eriksson Ek closed the debate. After the Capitals and Islanders won in overtime, the Wild's victory became the third straight game to be settled in overtime in as many playoff games. This is the first time in NHL history that the first three playoff games require overtime to determine the winner.

Yvon Pedneault confirmed the data during a segment at the start of overtime. It is the statistician of TVA Sports, Guillaume Villemaire, who whispered in his ear it seems. On Saturday night, Nick Dowd played the hero, as he deflected TJ Oshie's shot to beat Tuukka Rask in the first overtime period. The Capitals then won the opening duel of one of the most anticipated series in the first round.

All eyes are on the game of 44-year-old veteran and former Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara. The latter evolves against his former team. This afternoon, Sidney Crosby's squad lost to the New York Islanders. It is the new acquisition of Lou Lamoriello who played the spoilsport in overtime, while he surprised Tristan Jarry with a perfect shot in the top corner of the close side.

It was his second goal of the game. With his trio mates Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom, it is a trio that will have to produce to compensate for the absence of Captain Anders Lee.
