According to several rumours, the Devils would like to acquire a number one goalie this summer. Is this the end of Mackenzie Blackwood with New Jersey? Reading between the lines, the answer would be yes.
On the other hand, even though he's still young at 25, Blackwood has had a miserable season, due to numerous injuries and the COVID-19.
Here is his injury record:
This season in 25 games, Blackwood has maintained a 3.39 goals-against average and .892 save percentage. He earns $2.8 million per year until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
Elliotte Friedman, on the other hand, remains in the dark about Blackwood's future with the Devils
If you're a GM of an NHL team, would you take a chance on him?
