The Vegas Golden Knights aren't done surprising us. They did so earlier today by trading beloved goalie Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks for almost nothing, and now they appear to be closing in on Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel.
The Sabres want Reilly Smith, Peyton Krebs, Nic Hague, and a first-round pick in exchange for Eichel. This is the first clear look at the Sabres' return.
The Sabres seem to be getting closer to trading their captain, especially after trading forward Sam Reinhart and defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (who was shipped to the Philadelphia Flyers).
However, as you can see, Eichel is not cheap.
Since the captain admitted he would ponder his future with the team this summer, trade rumours have abounded in Buffalo. He was enraged when the Buffalo Sabres refused to operate on his herniated disc in his neck. Eichel went on to say that he and the Sabres organisation have a «disconnect» over his neck injury and that he is focused on getting healthy for next season «wherever that may be.»
