Darryl Sutter could win the Jack Adams Trophy plain & simple. He has this Flames unit running on all cylinders right now, and they have been one of the most impressive teams all season. Currently atop the Pacific Division & 2nd in the West, what the heck got into a team many believed to be anemic?
Well, for starters Johnny "Hockey" Gaudreau's 5'7" frame has to be the most efficient player in the league per square inch with 78 pts in 59 games. Equally impressive has been their goaltending from Jacob Markstrom & Dan Vladar. Fun fact (per quick math): those two netminders combine for 11.3% of all shutouts recorded this season. Is that good?
Take those incredible storylines and add into the mix one Tyler Toffoli & one Blake Coleman, please. Smells like a recipe for a Stanley Cup, but they have a few good teams to go through just yet.
Sutter & GM Brad Treliving deserve lots of credit & will no doubt be present at the NHL Awards over the summer.
