Auston Matthews Banned?!

Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Auston Matthews has been suspended 2 matches, as per the Department of Player Safety. This suspension comes just days after Marcus Foligno's dangerous knee-on-knee hit, which resulted in injury to Columbus' Jakub Voracek, landed a mere $5,000 fine.

The event took place after a scrum with Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin during the teams' outdoor game at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, ON. Dahlin took his liberties with the Leafs' stud & Matthews took exception. The judgment by Player Safety is consistent with its past decisions seeking to reduce head injuries. Matthews is eligible to return vs. Nashville this Saturday March 19.
