The site The Hockey Writers has identified the seven captains to be named soon, on seven NHL teams that still don't have a player with the "C" embroidered on their jersey.

Anaheim Ducks - Troy Terry

Following the departure of Ryan Getzlaf, Terry is the obvious choice for the role, having had a breakout season last year with 67 points, including 37 goals.

Arizona Coyotes - Clayton Keller

After Shane Doan retired in 2017, Oliver Ekman-Larsson received the "C" on his jersey in 2018-2019. Keller is the face of the franchise and that would, according to The Hockey Writers, be the logical choice.

Buffalo Sabres - Dylan Cozens

With Jack Eichel gone, the Sabres are without a captain. Cozens is also the future face of this franchise and deserves the title. But is he too young? That's another debate.

Calgary Flames - Mikael Backlund

The Flames were without a captain last season, due to Mark Giordano leaving for Seattle and then Toronto. Matthew Tkachuk would have been a logical choice for the position, as was the case with his brother in Ottawa. But with his departure to Florida, Mikael Backlund seems the logical choice in Alberta.

Montreal Canadiens - Nick Suzuki

Here is simply the quote from The Hockey Writers reporter Blain Potvin:

"Suzuki is an excellent candidate to captain the Canadiens. He's already the future face of the franchise, is seen as a leader and respected by his peers, and is on a long-term contract with his best years ahead of him."

Philadelphia Flyers - Sean Couturier

Obvious choice, following Claude Giroux's departure for Florida, then Ottawa.

Seattle Kraken - Jordan Eberle

Jordan Eberle is literally the leader of this young team and deserves the job.
