The Oilers have won two straight since he made changes, and they might win three tonight against the Kings in Los Angeles.
Captain Connor McDavid told NHL.com that he was ready for any changes Woodcroft wanted to make as soon as he took over. Thanks to Mark Spector, we now have figures showing how much the in-game tweaks effect McDavid.
McDavid's shift length in two games under Woodcroft has averaged 53 seconds.
''That's 10 seconds less than his season average.» Which is a whole lot for a hockey player.
McDavid can and will be more effective in late-game situations, and perhaps even more so in the postseason.
