On Friday the Montreal Canadiens held their exit interviews with the media, and veteran forward Corey Perry expressed his desire to remain with the team. Perry is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28th, but would like to don the bleu blanc et rouge for at least another season.

"I intend to play hockey next year. I think there's a lot of good hockey left in me and I'd like to come back and experience Montréal for being Montréal." Perry said.

He went on to add that he's talked with Marc Bergevin and would "love to come back and be a part of this.» No formal talks yet."

Perry also got emotional when talking about what it meant to him to play for a Canadian team. "This is the team I grew up cheering for. It's blown everything out of the water. It's been a lot of fun."

The Canadiens signed Perry to a one-year deal late in free agency and only a couple weeks prior to the start of the 2020-21 season. The Peterborough, Ontario native tallied 21 points (9 G, 12 A) in the regular season, and 10 points (4 G, 6 A) in the playoffs.
