Perry also got emotional when talking about what it meant to him to play for a Canadian team. "This is the team I grew up cheering for. It's blown everything out of the water. It's been a lot of fun."

The Canadiens signed Perry to a one-year deal late in free agency and only a couple weeks prior to the start of the 2020-21 season. The Peterborough, Ontario native tallied 21 points (9 G, 12 A) in the regular season, and 10 points (4 G, 6 A) in the playoffs.
