Louis Domingue comments on Andrei Vasilevskiy's equipment
Following the Tampa Bay Lightning's victory over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the series, a photo taken during the traditional handshake caused a huge stir. Many wondered why Andrei Vasilevskiy looked so big in his equipment compared to Carey Price, when the two goalies have almost the same measurements.
Vasilevskiy's former teammate, Louis Domingue, gave his opinion on the subject by saying that the difference in size, to the eye, between Vasilevskiy and Price is in the way they wear the chest protector. According to him, Vasilevskiy wears his bib on the outside of his pants, while Price wears it on the inside. The fact of taking out his bib out of his underwear raises it, which gives a certain effect of thickness.
Domingue also mentions that Vasilevsky wears a Bauer chest protector, which is one of the smallest on the market. It should be noted that the camera angle has something to do with it, while the two guards are not at all in the same angle. Here is the proof:
