David Pastrnak Makes a Bold Statement by Removing Picture With Alex Ovechkin on Instagram
David Pastrnak is having a career season. It's pretty great timing, since he's a pending unrestricted free agent.
He equally earned himself a spot at the 2023 all-star game, getting to spend time with the best of the best. One of these players was legendary goalscorer Alex Ovechkin, and the two got a picture together.
Unfortunately, fans immediately got outraged over this picture due to Ovechkin's lack of condemnation to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Ovechkin is a notable supporter and friend of Vladimir Putin's, which is a glaring deficiency on his record in North America.
The post was promptly deleted, but not before some commenters were able to share their stance:
Pastrnak made another Ovechkin-less post after.
Clearly Pastrnak doesn't want his love from the public to be brought down. Whether you love Ovi or not, the political realities won't ever go away.
