After the Islanders acquired Bo Horvat and the Rangers acquired Vladimir Tarasenko, it is time for the Devils to make a move.

They've been tied to San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier for months, and it appears that GM Tom Fitzgerald has stepped up his efforts to acquire the star power forward. It would be one hell of a consolation prise for the Devils, who missed out on Johnny Gaudreau in the off-season. They have the long-term cap flexibility to keep Meier long-term, so it appears to be a match made in heaven.

Per Pierre LeBrun, talks have intensified over the past 24 hours.

Lebrun says his understanding is that there's been more talks between the #NJDevils and #SJSharks re: Timo Meier over the last 48 hours.

With the two other New York teams going all-in, it's time for the Devils to step up. They have a championship-level core locked in, and it is now their time to decide if this is the year to go all-in.
