Five-time Stanley Cup Champion Has Passed Away
Barry Fraser, a five-time Stanley Cup Winner, and an integral piece of the Edmonton Oilers' dynasty has passed away at the age of 82.
Fraser worked for the Oilers from 1979 to 2000, as the director of scouting.
He was the man who made the final calls on drafting several key players.
He was responsible for a lot of Edmonton's dynasty being drafted, being a vocal part of the team drafting Mark Messier, Kevin Lowe, Glenn Anderson, Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri, Grant Fuhr, Andy Moog, Steve Smith, Esa Tikkanen, Jeff Beukeboom, Kelly Buchberger, Kirk Maltby, Jason Arnott, Miroslav Satan, Ryan Smyth, Fernando Pisani, Tom Poti, Shawn Horcoff & Jason Chimera. Without these players, the Oilers dynasty may have never even won a cup. If they hadn't had Fraser's voice in the room, maybe things wouldn't have gone as well.
It is sad to lose one of the smartest minds in hockey history, but Fraser will always be remembered as one of the greats.
