Fleury is "very much a Penguin," according to NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman.
Friedman also said:
Friedman stated, "I believe the Capitals are intrigued." "Remember when Josh Gorges was supposed to be traded from Montreal to Toronto but refused? Yeah, he claimed I wouldn't be able to accomplish it. That, I believe, is a major factor in this situation.
Friedman added, "I'm not persuaded Fleury would be comfortable doing it." "He's still very much a Penguin, and I think we forget how intense these rivalries can be at times." The Capitals, I believe, are quite interested. I believe they would be delighted to participate. We'll be here for two months, but I'm not sure Fleury would feel comfortable doing that." - Elliotte Friedman
Fleury was on the Penguins in 2016 and 2017 when the Pens beat the Caps to advance and win back to back Cups, he also lost to the Caps in 2018 in the finals while he was with the Knights.
