Everyone remembers Tim Peel, for not only his recent hot-takes on NHL players that are none of his business.

The referee proved that even in retirement you can maintain relevancy, by continuing to be a controversial figure in hockey.

Peel has been accused of berating two 17-year officials by the fellow referee and retired play Paul Stewart. According to Stewart, he invoked his name asking the junior referees "do you know who I am? after he harassed them for their decisions on the ice.

Maybe it is fortunate that the two youngsters didn't know the disgraced ref, who was fired by the NHL in 2021, after being caught on a hot mic that he was attempting to find a way to penalize the Nashville Predators.

Peel was dealt punishment, but it doesn't sound like it's punishment enough:

Peel was eventually suspended from coaching for 30 days, despite not being a coach; barred from the referees' room for two years, despite not being a referee; and placed on probation for two years, but not prohibited from watching games from the stands, according to McGlynn, Boren, and Missouri Ice Hockey Officials Association board member Andrew Bethmann.

Families of the two 17 years old have pursued legal action against peel in the meantime. If there is any justice, Peel will be restricted from the hockey world in general, while the young refs receive recompense for their troubles.
