The son of Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning was attacked over the weekend in Yaletown, according to Scott Brown of the Vancouver Sun. Danica Benning, Jim's daughter, said a gang of guys attacked her brother on Instagram.
According to Danica, the incident occurred about 2:00 a.m. outside of the Banter Room on Mainland Street. Four males reportedly jumped her brother, whom she did not name in her article. Danica said the men "nearly beat him to death" according to her. That may sound harsh, but a police spokeswoman confirmed that the victim had sustained substantial injuries.
"A 25-year-old man had very visible injuries to his face," said spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin as per the Vancouver Sun. "He declined any assistance from paramedics and told officers he would go to the hospital himself."
