Many experts are talking about it, the young prospects available for the 2023 draft are exceptional.
To demonstrate just how incredible the crop is, insider Scott Wheeler of The Athletic has put together a new ranking, involving Canadiens rookie Juraj Slafkovsky.
Here are some interesting statements from Wheeler, identified by Marco Normandin:
Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli and Matvei Michkov would have all been drafted first overall in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 drafts.
According to Wheeler, Leo Carlsson, who is projected to go 4th overall in 2023, would have been drafted before Alexis Lafreniere and before Juraj Slafkovsky.
So here is the projected top 10 in 2023, should Juraj Slafkovsky end up there:
1. Connor Bedard
2. Adam Fantilli
3. Matvei Michkov
4. Leo Carlsson
5. Zach Benson
6. Brayden Yager
7. Dalibor Dvorsky
8. Eduard Sale
9. Juraj Slafkovsky
10. Calum Ritchie
It is understandable why Kent Hughes would want to acquire a third first round pick in 2023.
