It's all Marc Bergevin's fault. It all started with the offer sheet to Sebastian Aho, which made the Canes want to take revenge with Kotkaniemi.
The failure of that first bid was huge and it brought us to here. Losing KK for nothing is a horrible thing.
The question is whether Bergevin is really the only one responsible in this matter. Did the management have anything to do with this?
91.9 host Martin Lemay pointed out that owner Geoff Molson may also have a role to play in the matter, being a year away from having his contract expire. This certainly prevents Bergevin from signing players like Kotkaniemi and even Phillip Danault to long-term contracts if we go further.
In short, whether it's Bergevin, Molson or the Hurricanes, we cannot go back in the past. This might have created a war in the NHL and put some crazy ideas in other GMs heads.
