Mats Zuccarello Makes Harsh Statement On His Teams Defensive Game
In the Minnesota Wild's first two games of the season, they have allowed 14 goals. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been brutal, and he has received no help from his teams defense.
Star player Mats Zuccarello made his opinion on these first two games very clear in a post-game interview.
You can't expect to win games when you let in 14 goals in two games. Sometimes we play defense like we're a fucking junior team. It's the whole team. We've got to sharpen up,» Zuccarello said after the loss on Saturday.
The Wild are in a difficult position due to the buyout cap hits of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. Due to this, they were unable to be active in free agency. The Wild's defensive corps, highlighted by Jared Spurgeon, Matt Dumba and Jonas Brodin need to step up, and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury needs to be better.
