An NHL players admitted that many players are worried about what would happen if they tested positive for Covid while at the games. That would be a 3 week stay in China, which no player wants to do in the middle of an NHL season.
"If you test positive in China you're stuck there for three weeks," said the player as per EPSN's Emily Kaplan. "That's brutal. Guys are terrified of that."
These worries are significant enough that the players have considered withdrawing from the Olympics, but there is no indication they will do so at this moment. If they do, Kaplan believes the league might reduce its scheduled Olympic break from three weeks to just one, even even filling some of those days with games postponed this season.
