Patrick Kane Disses the Blackhawks for Their Poor Management of Kirby Dach
Kirby Dach had an interesting young career in Chicago. At just 20 years old he was centering Patrick Kane. Now, after his trade, Kane has reflected.
Kane took Dach under his wing after being selected third overall and making the jump to the NHL in his D+1 season. It was a shock for Kane when the organization opted to move on from Dach.
In an interview, Kane said this:
When asked about Kirby Dach today, he said: «I'm not surprised [he's doing so well]. What is he, 21? 22? It takes some time sometimes, and he was probably rushed into the league. And playing fourth-line minutes, getting sat out games, it's probably not the best thing for your development. It's not surprising in the least that all of a sudden he's starting to play a lot of minutes and playing in a good position and he's producing. Happy for him."
Kane also publicly stated his reservations about the departure of Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat last summer, mentioning that it didn't make sense to not hold onto young talent in the state the Blackhawks are in. Clearly Kane wasn't happy with the team trading these young pieces, and as his days likely come to an end in Chicago, he isn't afraid to be honest about the woes of his organization. The only question is, where will Kane end up next?
