Patrick Kane Makes a Bold Statement to Teams Who Passed on Trading for Him
When the Maple Leafs acquired Ryan O'Reilly, it clouded the idea that they could be going after Patrick Kane.
With the Rangers most likely out on the all-star scoring winger, the Leafs emerged as a front-runner, and we know that a deal is still possible.
If Kane chooses Toronto as his destination, the Blackhawks will have no choice to take a lesser package due to his No Move Clause. If they can find a third party team to retain, the move is feasible cap-wise as well.
Tonight the Leafs and Blackhawks are facing off, and Kane scored his twelfth goal of the season. Then he scored his thirteenth. Then he completed the hattrick with his fourteenth goal of the season.
Clearly something about the Leafs energize Kane, since this is the best he's looked in months. He's definitely showing the Maple Leafs what they're missing by not trading for him!
With the knowledge that Kyle Dubas isn't done making moves, could Patrick Kane be on the horizon in Toronto?
