After the Minnesota Wild announced the buyouts of veterans Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, Darren Dreger of TSN reports that the Wild will indeed make a pitch for Buffalo Sabres Jack Eichel. The buyouts are supposedly being used to find a top line center this summer.
«I believe that the Wild are going to make an offer, a trade offer on Jack Eichel but they're also not going to blow their cap space and they're not going to overpay with trade assets,» Darren Dreger said.
The team will now have an extra $10 million in cap space to work with, but they also still need to re-sign Kirill Kaprizov and Kevin Fiala. If the Wild were able to acquire Eichel, Kaprizov and him would form one heck of a one-two punch.
If the Wild were to make a deal for Eichel, it would likely need to include many of the trade assets that they currently have. The team has 2 first round picks, 2 third round picks, Marco Rossi, Matt Boldy, Calen Addison, and also Fiala or Dumba to dangle with in order to make money work in the trade.
