Sabres place former first round pick on waivers

The Buffalo Sabres have placed the name of 30-year-old veteran centre Riley Sheahan on waivers.
Sheahan, who signed a one-season contract with Buffalo this summer, has not played a game this year.
In 69 games last season with the Seattle Kraken, he recorded 17 points, including four goals.
