The NHL is battling the pandemic while managing their athletes. The NHL has 7 Canadian teams, compared to 1 in the MLB, 1 in the NBA, and 0 in the NFL.
The NHL faces unique issues due to its Canadian teams. Quarantine requirements, travel limitations, vaccine limits, and attendance rules.
Others have already begun to adopt restrictions that more closely align with the CDC's new policies.
The NBA announced yesterday that vaccinated and asymptomatic players/coaches might be released from quarantine in six days, and Adam Schefter reports the NFL will follow suit today.
"Either something's got to change or we're just going to have to deal with it and just know that the product's going to be inferior that we're putting on the ice...
It seems like it's always Canada that's the reason that a lot of things don't happen, so I don't know if we're going to be able to do that. But it seems reasonable that we would do that and implement it as soon as possible."
