The Chicago Blackhawks have been trending in the sport news lately for all the wrong reasons after the Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz went off during the teams town hall meeting.

It looks like that trend is continuing with Blackhawks fans rumored not to be impressed with the teams choice of their next GM candidate for their next general manager.

During an episode of TSN's insider trading with hockey insider Darren Dreger, he revealed that former Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli is believed to be the serious contender for the job in the windy city.

This is definitely bad news if you're a Chicago Blackhawks fan with Peter Chiarelli having a terrible track record when it comes to trades. Remember this trade? Chiarelli traded forward Taylor Hall from the Edmonton Oilers to the New Jersey Devils for defenceman Adam Larsson, a deal that left Oilers fans scratching their heads.

Darren Dreger had this to say on the Blackhawks,

"Sources indicate that Peter Chiarelli, who is working with Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues, has been contacted by the Chicago Blackhawks and will interview for their hockey operations vacancy, among others," said Dreger on Insider Trading. "So this could move very quickly. "

Peter Chiarelli's claim to fame was being GM of the Boston Bruins when they won the Stanley Cup in 2011, but in fact Chiarelli had little to do with that Bruins roster, it was revealed the assistant GM Jeff Gorton made those trade moves for the Bruins.

After Mike O'Connell was fired as the GM by the Bruins, assistant GM Jeff Gorton took the role of interim general manager. He made those moves to build the Bruins into a championship team. Peter Chiarelli was just hired at the right time to get the credit.

Gorton also made one of the best trades ever for the Bruins trading goaltender Andrew Raycroft to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Tuukka Rask who turned out to be the Bruins franchise goaltender to this day.

Peter Chiarelli's biggest blunder might of been trading in 2013 Chiarelli traded Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser in a deal that Bruins fans still haven't fully recovered from. So expect to see players like Kirby Dach, and Seth Jones traded for some players with much less potential if he's indeed hired by the Blackhawks.
