The Arizona Coyotes' general manager Bill Armstrong wants to let teams know that the Coyotes are willing to take on some bad contracts in exchange for assets to improve the Coyotes.
The move has worked well for the Coyotes before taking on undesirable contracts like Andrew Ladd, Shayne Gostisbehere, Antoine Roussel, and Loui Eriksson, and receiving several draft picks.
TSN's Chris Johnston also noted that the length of the contract and the type of player the Coyotes are receiving would play a factor in these negotiations. Ladd and Gostisbehere are the only two aforementioned players signed beyond this season, and both their contracts expire after 2022-23 season.
The Arizona Coyotes have just over $7 million dollars left on the salary cap this season so teams will have to act fast if they want to do business with Armstrong.
